Sensational Saturday has arrived at One Crazy Stamper and today I’m sharing a creation using Olivia’s happy day by C.C. Designs. I think this stamp is so cute and versatile, she can be used for any theme. A friend of mine is in Acapulco(so jealous!), so I made this with Mexico in mind. I coloured my image nice and bright and used my copics to add colour to the flowers. I also tucked in a tag adorned with ribbons, which is removable. Hope you all like it!

How To Do Shabby Chic Tutorial

Hello Crafty peeps! I’m sure some if not all of you love and have seen these shabby chic styled cards and wondered how they do it. Because I know I did, so today I’m going to show you how.

My idea of shabby chic is a vintage, girly and distressed look. Most of all it has to be over the top embellished with lace, jewels, pearls, butterflies, flowers and lots of pretty stuff. A little curled up corner with some tears here and there will also do the trick. I will be using a few key products that really help add to the over all shabby chic look. Go grab a cup of tea and enjoy!

Below is the How To Do Shabby Chic

papersAs always I start off with a selection of design papers and my coloured image.

cheese cloth and sicssorscheesecloth can be found at most grocery stores, it is great for crafting and making soups too!

Cut and manipulated cheese clothAfter cutting a square of cheesecloth, it needs to be manipulated. To achieve this look pull and stretch the cloth in all directions, then gently fray the loose strings along the edges. Pictured top is a cut a 3×3 square, on the bottom are two different shapes of cloth that were manipulated.

Burlap suppliesSame goes for the burlap, cut a piece and manipulate it by stretching and pulling to your liking.

Paint and embossing pasteThese two products combined help put the shabby in the chic.

Applying paintThis distress paint has a dauber top applicator great for easy use and application. Along the edges paint it on starting from outer edge and feathering inward. Repeat until you are satisfied with the depth of paint colour and distressed look.

paste on brushAnother super fun product to work with is the embossing paste, I’ve seen it used with stencilling but thought it would work good for a shabby chic look.

paste on paperThis paste is quite thick and gives a great 3D distressed effect. Using a sponge pouncer I applied the paste along the edges with a carefree approach.

finished pasteFinished look, allow this step to dry.

paper an suppliesThis fun step involves embossing powder, embossing enamels, glitter and mica fragments.

paper with clear embosssing powderI inked up the edges with versamark and covered it with a clear ultra thick embossing powder. The ultra thick embossing powder is an essential base to allow the mica fragments to have something to adhere to. (sticky embossing powder works too)

paper with mica and enamelI sprinkled on a medley of embossing powders, glitter, fragments and mica.

Here is what they look like after being heat set. Always heat set from underneath or you will loose all your beautiful powders and fragments! (left is with embossing powders and fragments, rightt is just embossing powders.

unfinishedcardFinally raid your stash for ribbons, lace, pearls, jewels, flowers and embellish until you cannot embellish no more!

Have a fabulous day!!

Babe on a Black Sand Beach

I have a treat to share today, and boy oh boy is this card overloaded with layers of beautiful embellies. A few of my favourite parts are as follows: A handmade flower, made from a silicone mould, which I inked the petal edges with angel pink ink, spritzed with angel pink shimmery fireworks spray, then inked on versamark and sprinkled chunky embossing enamel on and heat set it. The torn note book page look on the dp was done with a hole punch and a few snips with scissors. Enjoy and have a great day!

Now its your turn to join us in our “anything goes whimsy” challenge.

A Blue Tail

Hello my crafty peeps, today I have a cute card and little story to go along with it. But first the card breakdown, I’m using Bonnie by Whimsy that was coloured with copics and prismas. I used the ever so beautiful Elegant paper pad by Authentique and a few memory box dies. So on to the story, the other night while colouring and just starting her hair my marker decided to leave a big ol juicy blob. First I tried to use a colourless blender, which didn’t work. Then I grabbed my copic liner, drew on a few extra hair stands and coloured them in and managed to save the image! Not bad huh?

Don’t forget to join our “anything goes” challenge for a chance to win some great prizes. Have a great crafty day!

We have a new monthly challenge up at OCS, stop by and check out all the lovely creations from the design team.  We are showcasing Whimsy stamps all month long, along with an “anything goes” challenge.  I was inspired by princess Ariel, as she sings on the rock and falls in love with prince Eric. For my embellies, I added stickes, flowers, hemp twine and some perfect turquoise pearls. I would also like to thank and give some cred to my bestie Meaghan for hand writing the sentiment, she has beautiful penmanship. :)
